About Us

Turtle Lake is the kind of place where people wave from their front steps, kids ride their bikes to the park, and neighbors look out for one another. Our town is surrounded by open prairie, peaceful lakes, and plenty of room to enjoy the outdoors at your own pace.
We’re home to a great school, a local hospital, and a strong sense of community that shows up in everyday life. Whether it’s a school event, a ball game, or a community fundraiser, people here show up for each other.
Turtle Lake is known for the USA and World Championship Turtle Races and for traditions like Turtle Days that bring the whole town together. Just outside of town, Brekken and Holmes lakes offer fishing piers, boat ramps, playgrounds, and camping spots that families enjoy all summer long.
Located between Bismarck and Minot, Turtle Lake offers small‑town comfort with easy access to the region. Whether you’re visiting, moving here, or reconnecting with home, you’ll find a community that’s friendly, grounded, and proud of who we are.
